Art Workshop at La Colmena de La Vida

La Colmena de la Vida is a home for vulnerable children. It is located in El Hatillo, Venezuela. During 2010, the associate director Ángela Vera Lefeld invited us to collaborate on their art workshops initiative.

We developed a set of creative experiences to explore the imagination and personal growth, aimed at the children. A group of volunteers joined our project to facilitate assistance to each child needs: Prof. Mafe Izaguirre, Prof. Eduardo López, Prof. Luis Giraldo. Volunteer designers and artists: Luis Lestón, Nicole Bigio, Juan Mercerón, Juan García, Lena Pagliarani, and Alexandra Vivas.

We were interested in making a real difference for children at risk working with local communities focused on exploratory activities involving nature’s observation to the process of developing the imagination through drawing, ceramics, and origami exercises. We worked together with the institutional leaders to bring an unforgettable experience that inspires the children to discover and empower their talents and skills.
